I’m not going into any arguments about why Imane Khelif is a man because he is. He would have sued someone if he wasn’t and he can’t. He would have taken a test to prove he is a woman if he could, and he can’t because he isn’t.
Now the very obvious is out of the way, let’s talk about where he is now. He’s planning to beat the shit out of women again between 5th and 9th June in the Netherlands at the Eindhoven Box Cup 2025. This is an Olympic boxing event and affiliated with World Boxing.
The Eindhoven Box Cup is a prestigious, elite event for 150 boxers from around the world. There is a male and a female category. Khelif will fight as a female. He will once again climb into the ring of a female boxing match and hit women with all the natural advantage and full force of a man trained to do so. Unless he throws the fights to prove a false point (that he has no intrinsic advantage by being male), which I don’t think he will, then in all likelihood he will at least make the final.
The entry to the event is limited, and has now closed, so he has already taken a woman’s place before he even puts a glove on. I wonder who she is and how she feels.
If you Google Khelif’s name you’ll find there is very little reference to the fact that he will compete in this event, other than from women’s rights campaigners, objecting to his appearance there. You will find links to his appearance at the event in 2024, before controversy dogged his Olympic gold medal win. He does feature in the promotional video, I’m sure his team insisted on it, but not by name. Very little has been said about him since March at all. I reckon he expected to slip back into the ring against women hardly noticed until he was already winning. The deception stinks to high heaven and women have, of course, noticed.
Khelif said in March this year, when the IBA launched a legal action against the IOC for allowing Khelif to compete “as a woman”,
"But silence is no longer an option.
"I am not going anywhere. I will fight in the ring, I will fight in the courts and I will fight in the public eye until the truth is undeniable."
Imane Khelif is a cheat and a bully. He could take a simple cheek swab test and everyone would indeed fall silent if he miraculously produced an XX result. He chose instead to make threats to sue women and announce his defiant intent to continue brutally smashing them in the head, with unfair strength, whilst cheating his way to their medals.
Khelif’s chest pounding against the IBA and their legal action did not work to persuade the world he was a woman. His legal threats against JK Rowling, and others calling him a man, did not work. So he has once again taken the only available option and fallen silent. His PR team must be very bored. It’s hard to run interference for a man saying he’s a woman when he can’t possibly prove it. No lipstick in the world will do it for them or for him. Khelif swung his fist at the world and the world shouted back defiantly, “He’s a man”. What a thankless task his team have.
Women will not be deceived and we will not be bullied. I will not get into arguments about disorders of sexual development or the sympathy we should feel if this is his experience, because Khelif is a man, knows his physical advantage, and plays it off against global sympathy on “gender issues”.
Whilst scattering threats like marbles designed to trip up any challengers to his competing, Khelif willingly plays along with newspapers who dress him up in a more “womanly” way, as they do with most of these cheating men cuckooing in the nest of women’s sports.
He and his team perhaps thought the outrage over his Paris Olympic win would die off, that women would forget the insult. He is relying on a careful and deliberate press blackout to facilitate his continued cheating, but the press and Imane Khelif have vastly underestimated women. Women are deliberately and enthusiastically worse than elephants sometimes and few of us will ever erase from our minds the sight of two men violently beating women, until they bled, on the world sporting stage.
The President of World Boxing is Boris Van Der Vorst and the organisation he leads promised to review their policy on sex category of competition with a result “in two or three weeks”. They announced this “imminent” policy in March and it has not happened been produced. It is 15 days until this hideous man begins punching women again, and this time under the banner of World Boxing and the Presidency of Boris Van Der Vorst. All eyes will be on you Boris, and you know how well that went last August. I am sure women will organise and I’m sure the press will hear about them. Women are louder than last year and with more public support, because everyone saw women bleed and very few enjoyed it.
Both Imane Khelif and Lin Yu Ting, the other cheating man at the Olympics in Paris 2024, have moved up a weight class. I think this is purely about the “unfortunate” optics of men beating women. These men and their support teams know that they don’t look quite as bad fighting taller and bulkier women. The disconnect visually with a man beating a woman is slightly less if the woman is heavier and muscle-laden. A little but not enough because 4 kilos doesn’t turn Khelif into a woman, it just makes him stronger.
It is beyond disgusting to manipulate women’s sport in this way. It is gaslighting of women competing and also of the women watching. This gross insult to women and women’s sport is being played out, once more, on an international sporting stage.
What we all see, every time these men step into a ring, is men hitting women really hard. It is nothing more and nothing less. The “sport” of boxing has ceased to be relevant at this point, it is the deliberate abuse of women and it is traumatic to watch whether we are boxing afficionados or not. Many of us have taken a fist to the face or body landed by a man who hates us, and we feel how awful this is for Khelif’s female opponent. Everyone knows it is wrong.
If Boris Van der Vorst does not act swiftly to reverse a policy which allows men to hit women, he continues to endorse abuse and facilitate liars who might seriously hurt a woman soon. I hope to God no woman falls to the canvas and doesn’t get up, because Imane Khelif wasn’t stopped by anyone before he got to beat her unconscious. If he does, all eyes will be on you Boris. Pedal to the floor and you can save the woman and your reputation.
Get that policy out to the world as soon as you can and get that cheating man out of women’s boxing. Fifteen days to ensure fairness for women.
